  2. Plan for VRAM, not just speed

  4. Pair it with the right processor

    A fast card held back by an old processor loses frames, mostly at 1080p and in competitive games. A recent six-core or better processor (Ryzen 5 7600 / 9600X, Core i5-13400F / 14400F class) keeps mid-range cards fed; for RTX 5080-class cards and above, pair a higher-end processor.   5. NVIDIA or AMD?

    NVIDIA (RTX) is the pick for DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, the strongest ray tracing, and AI or video-editing work.   6. Upgrading an office PC?

    Many ready-made office PCs (Dell, HP, Lenovo) have a small power supply with no graphics-card power cable. They need a card that takes all its power from the slot (75 W or less), such as the RTX 3050 6GB; check that the card lists no external power connector and that it fits the case, since some of these cases only take low-profile cards.
